Majors Typhoons Triumph Over SSPBC Polar Bears
Majors Typhoons 13 – 9 SSP Polar Bears
The game began with both starting pitchers quickly retiring the opposing batters. After the first inning, the score remained 0-0. However, the Typhoons quickly took the lead in the second inning. Fred Fu drew a walk on four straight pitches after fouling off the first pitch. Aaron Lee followed with another walk, bringing Robbie Pliner to the plate. Robbie hit a line drive down the right field gap, clearing the bases and making the score 2-0. Robbie then stole home, extending the Typhoons’ lead to 3-0.
In the bottom half of the inning, Troy Cheng struck out all three batters in order, ending the inning.
The Typhoons added two more runs in the top of the third inning thanks to clutch hitting by George Hosford and Fred Fu, giving them a 5-0 lead.
However, the Polar Bears managed to score two runs in the bottom of the third inning.
George Hosford relieved Troy Cheng in the bottom of the fourth inning after Cheng recorded six strikeouts during his start. Unfortunately, the patient-hitting Polar Bears drew eight walks during the inning and took a 7-5 lead.
The Typhoons fought back in the top of the fifth inning, with Fred Fu delivering a clutch hit that brought Troy and Logan Xu home on a line drive, tying the score at 7-7.
Ryder Lee took over for George Hosford and pitched exceptionally well. However, the persistent Polar Bears managed to score two more runs, ending the inning with a 9-7 advantage.
In the top of the sixth inning, Nicky Artman tied the game with a triple down the right field line. George Hosford then provided some insurance by hitting the ball into center field, scoring Troy and Logan and adding to the Typhoons’ six-run sixth inning.
