Majors Typhoons Come Away With Lessons From a Loss to the Shatin Martins

Majors Typhoons 2 – 12 Shatin Martins

In a game between the TTBC Majors Typhoons and the Shatin Martins, the Martins (1-2) dominated and secured a 12-2 victory.

The Typhoons (2-1-1) struggled and were hitless against the Martins throughout the game. Troy Cheng (2-1) started as the pitcher for the Typhoons and had a shaky beginning. Troy yielded three runs to the Martins to wrap up the top half of the inning.

In the bottom half of the inning, the Typhoons managed to get Fred Fu on first base after he beat out a throw on a dropped third strike. However, they couldn’t capitalize on this opportunity.

Typhoons Talking out the Game

In the second inning, Troy Cheng had an impressive performance, striking out the side and preventing further damage from the Martins. However, the Typhoons’ offense continued to struggle in the bottom half of the inning.

Aaron Lee came in as a relief pitcher for Troy Cheng but had difficulty finding the strike zone, resulting in four walks given to the Martins. George Hosford entered the game with the bases loaded and managed to limit the damage to only one run while striking out two batters.

The Typhoons briefly showed signs of hope in the bottom of the third inning when a dropped third strike by Troy Cheng and the speed of Ryder Lee on third base enabled them to score a run.

In the top half of the fifth inning, Parker Shapiro came into relief for George and took over the mound for the Typhoons. After a few defense errors, leading to six unearned runs, the Martins unleashed their offense and scored seven runs in the inning.

Due to time limits, the game was called, and the Typhoons suffered their first loss of the 2023-2024 season with a final score of 2-12 in favor of the Martins.

Both Troy Cheng and George Hosford had an impressive five strikeouts each, but their efforts weren’t enough to overcome the strong performance of the Martins.

Up next, the Typhoons take on the Astros (4-0) in an early morning contest this Sunday – for information on the next game, see the Calendar page.
