Majors Typhoons 2 – 12  Sha Tin Martins

The TTBC Typhoons’ bullpen faltered against the Sha Tin Martins

The game was expected to be a pitching duel between the starting pitchers of both teams. The Martins’ speedy starting pitching resulted in the Typhoons being retired in order in the top of the first inning.

Troy Cheng took the mound for the TTBC Typhoons. After walking the first two batters, Ryder Lee threw a strike to catcher Parker Shapiro, who made the out at home plate on a liner to right field. Troy was able to strike out the next batter and added another strikeout to finish the inning.

In the top of the second inning, Fred Fu lined a double to left field. Fred advanced to third after he knocked the ball out of the third baseman’s glove and subsequently scored on a wild pitch, tying the score at 1-1.

In the bottom half of the inning, the Martins generated some baserunners with a hit-by-pitch and a bunt, putting runners on base. With two more strikeouts, Troy limited the damage to 2 runs scored.

#8 Robbie Pliner and #42 Troy Cheng

The scoring continued in the top of the 4th inning. George Hosford reached base by beating the throw on a dropped third strike, and Fred Fu singled on a hard ground ball to the shortstop. Fred advanced to second on a stolen base. Parker Shapiro grounded out on a fielder’s choice, allowing George to score from third.

Parker, who replaced Troy as the pitcher, had an outstanding 3rd inning. However, he didn’t look as sharp in the 4th inning and walked four consecutive batters. George Hosford came in to relieve Parker but ended up surrendering four more consecutive walks. The game ended with the Sha Tin Martins scoring a total of 9 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning, leading to the game being ended due to the mercy rule.
