Majors Typhoons Dominate YMCA Revives in Second Half Opener

Majors Typhoons 26 – 5  YMCA Revives

The TTBC Typhoons dominated the YMCA Revives in a huge victory.  The game began with Troy Cheng hitting a triple down the left field line, setting the tone for the Typhoons’ offense.  They never looked back from there.

George Hosford followed with a ground rule double and scored on Fred Fu’s ground ball to second base.  Aaron Lee continued the onslaught with a sharp liner to the second baseman.  With the bases loaded, Lucas Lu crushed a triple to the outfield, clearing the bases.  Batting around the order, Troy hit a double down the left field line.

The Typhoons quickly established a 7-0 advantage before the Revives even had a chance to bat.

#21 Lucas Liu hitting his first triple!

Troy took the mound to start the bottom half of the inning. After issuing a walk and committing an error induced by a bunt, Troy gave up a run and found himself in a bases loaded jam.

A strange infield fly rule resulted in another run for the Revives, but the Typhoons managed to turn a double play on a misplayed fly ball.  Troy struck out the next batter to escape the bottom of the 1st inning, limiting the damage to 2 runs.

In the top of the 2nd inning, the Typhoons picked up where they left off, with George Hosford leading the way.  After stealing second base, George scored on a single to the pitcher by Fred.

Aaron then hit a hard line drive down the right field line to bring Fred home, and later scored on a wild pitch.  Robbie Pliner extended the lead with a triple to center field.  By the end of the top of the second inning, the Typhoons held a commanding 19-2 lead.

Troy continued his dominant performance by striking out the side in the bottom of the 2nd inning.

The Typhoons carried their momentum into the 3rd inning, with Troy hitting his second triple of the game.  With a patient approach at the plate, the Typhoons added another 7 runs in the 3rd inning.

Parker Sharpio relieved Troy in the 3rd inning and pitched a superb inning to close out the shortened, mercy-ruled game.

In total, the Typhoons drew 11 walks and recorded 15 hits, with Troy Cheng leading the way by going 4 for 4.  Aaron Lee, George Hosford, and Fred Fu also had multiple hits.

Troy collected 4 strikeouts, while Parker added 2 strikeouts.

Typhoons will look to keep the winning streak next Sunday against the Sha Tin Martins – for information on the next game, see the Calendar page.
