Come from Behind Victory for the TTBC Eagles Seniors Over the JBC Buffaloes
TTBC Eagles Seniors 8 – 7 JBC Buffaloes
In the Seniors Division, the TTBC Eagles (7-1) faced the JBC Buffaloes (6-4) on a cool day under the shade of Lion Rock mountain.
The visiting Eagles tacked two early runs on the board through a hard-hit line drive double by Jacob “JaKobe” Flach to take the lead in the top of the first inning. However, a determined Buffaloes team had other thoughts and took advantage of some errant pitching to take a 7-4 lead by the bottom of the fourth inning.
Things got interesting from there with the Eagles tacking on a run in the top of the fifth inning with Ian “Goggles” Nam scoring Kai “Tiny” Shohtoku on a fielder’s choice RBI.
With the two-hour time limit fast approaching, the Eagles adopted a never before seen American Football style hurry-up defense with Goggles Nam on the mound getting three quick outs with 14 pitches in the bottom of the inning to ensure that there would be a sixth inning (with a lot of hustle between pitches by both catcher and pitcher).
In the top of the sixth, with confidence surging through their veins, Luke “Shot Caller” Lawler started the rally with a one-out, line drive single to center field. Daniel “Boomtown” Looram followed up with a walk. After a strikeout by the Buffaloes pitcher, Tiny Shohtoku followed up with a walk to load the bases for Adrian “Turtle” Unertl.
With the first pitch he saw, Turtle Unertl crushed a ball into the left-center gap to clear the bases for the Eagles to take an 8-7 lead.
With nerves at an all-time high, Goggles Nam once again took the mound in the bottom of the sixth to what the fans were hoping for a quick 1-2-3 inning. Not even breaking a sweat, Goggles Nam delivered a vintage performance inducing two ground ball outs and a fly ball out to seal the victory for the Eagles.
Next up for the TTBC Senior Eagles is the Kaakiro Lions on the 21st of January at 10:30am. For the next Eagles game, see information on the Calendar page.
